Chrysalis is seeking an experienced fundraiser and event producer to serve as its Manager of Special Events. A critical member of the Development team, the Manager of Special Events reports to the Vice President of Development and Communications and is responsible for an event portfolio that raises over $1.4M each year. Candidate should be creative, flexible and able to work independently as well as part of a team
In addition to fundraising goals, the Special Events Manager is responsible for coordinating all event logistics and managing an expense budget in excess of $250K. Position will have primary responsibility for coordinating all aspects of production and fundraising for Chrysalis’ annual Butterfly Ball which hosts 700 guests and raises over $1M each year. Responsibilities include hiring and managing a wide range of vendors including a full production team to produce the evening’s program. The event is held on the grounds of a private estate necessitating a much higher level of production coordination than your average hotel hosted gala.
The Manager of Special Events works closely with the VP of Development and Communications to develop annual revenue goals and to find unique ways to use special event platforms to engage individual donors in the mission of Chrysalis as well as help further the overall strategic fundraising goals of the Department. The position is responsible for recruiting, hiring and managing a seasonal event employee in addition to year-round interns. The ideal candidate has 5+ years experience in running fundraising events. Must be able to balance multiple priorities and have the ability to motivate and engage diverse constituency groups. Excellent public speaking, time management, fundraising, writing and negotiation skills are a must. Significant knowledge of the entertainment industry is preferred. Position will be based out of Chrysalis’ Santa Monica office.
