Program Assistant(Entry Level, Reports to Executive Director)
ArtSpan seeks an entry-level individual to coordinate education programs -- Art for City Youth and professional development workshops for artists -- and support individual donation and membership, volunteer management, exhibitions and events preparation, and the executive director. Duties include planning with school partners, attending community meetings, project documentation, hanging art, moving art supplies, answering phones, data entry and processing, and other administrative tasks as needed. Due to work with the San Francisco Unified School District, the program assistant must pass a Live Scan background check.
ArtSpan staff is cross-functional with abilities in running programs, fund development, and operations management. The ideal candidate enjoys working on multiple projects, is outgoing, has a desire to work and grow in more than one function of the organization. All current staff have been promoted from within.

ArtSpan produces San Francisco Open Studios the first and largest open studios program in the country Art for City Youth, juried exhibitions, professional development for artists, semi-monthly artist mixers, and arts engagement lectures for adults.
Required Skills -Background in arts education, community arts, or transferable experience working with multiple organizations to produce collaborative events -Excellent writing and communication skills -Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel -Experience working with a data base -Sound judgment -Ability to work on multiple projects at once -Ability to network a computer to a printer and server -Ability to work in a small office -Bachelors degree
Desired Skills -Previous experience working on committees, doing community outreach, and collaboration -Experience keeping timelines -Experience processing statistical surveys for program reporting -Experience receipting donors -Experience using Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and/or InDesign -Graphic design -Experience with TCP/IP connection, HTML programming, data transfers, and/or POP/IMAP setup -Bachelors degree in art education, art administration, or communications
Selected candidates will be interviewed immediately upon determining eligibility. All correspondence is judged as samples of writing and communication skill.
Compensation: $28,000 - $30,000 dependent upon experience and match to required and desired skills.
Salaried $28,000 30,000. 37.5 hours per week with some nights and weekends. Benefits include accrual of 2 weeks paid vacation and heath and dental benefits passing 3-month probation. Self-funded independent retirement accounts are available after 3 months.
