

Director of Development
Location: Vineyard Haven, MA
Marthas Vineyard Community Services (MVCS), the largest human service provider on the Island, seeks a Director of Development to lead the organization into its next phase of development and growth. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a difference in a very worthy mission.
The ideal candidate will have at least five years experience in a Development Department with solid experience and success in special events management, major gifts, and/or coordination of an Annual Giving program. S/he will also have demonstrated success in recruiting, organizing, training, motivating, and supporting volunteers and staff to raise funds. S/he will need a professional toolbox filled with superb communications skills, an impeccable attention to detail, a strategic vision, and a sense of humor.
The Director will serve as the chief fundraising and community relations strategist for the agency, working closely with the Executive Director and the Development Committee in developing and implementing development and marketing plans. S/he will lead the Development staff, and serve as a member of the MVCS Management team.
Key Responsibilities:
To direct fundraising efforts in partnership with the Executive Director and the Development Committee of the Board of Directors.
To build, coach, and motivate a competent and energetic development staff.
To provide leadership and support for Committee and participants in the agencys special event fundraiser, the Possible Dreams Auction (www.possibledreamsauction.org).
To establish and manage a vibrant outreach program including public and media relations that tells the agencys story to the public.
To establish and implement a financial development plan, including the growth of the major gifts program, to support the agencys strategic initiatives.
To oversee the building of the agencys website as a major communications and fundraising vehicle.
