POSITION TITLE: Partnerships Campaigner DEPARTMENT: Campaigns LOCATION: Washington, DC SUPERVISOR: Global Warming Campaign Director
The Partnerships Campaigner advances Greenpeaces global warming campaign goals by mobilizing the voices of prominent and influential people, constituencies, and organizations. By engaging and motivating voices among public opinion leaders, environmental and non-environmental groups, and national, state and local leaders across a broad spectrum of interest groups, the Partnerships Campaigner multiplies the effectiveness of Greenpeaces global warming program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Design and implement the vision, goals and standards in collaboration with the Global Warming Campaign Director.
2. Develop and implement a long-term work plan to build the capacity and impact of our networks.
3. Cultivate and manage relationships with influential organizations and constituencies, e.g., national environmental groups, sector organizations and regional organizations.
4. Identify collaboration opportunities with these influential groups, constituencies and individuals, including opportunities for our extensive field network to create and work in strategic partnerships at the local, regional, and national-level and opportunities for these other groups to deploy our tactics with us.
5. Manage collaboration projects from conception to completion, identifying other Greenpeace staff to bring in as necessary.
6. Other campaigner responsibilities, such as work on or coordination of projects and activities, as assigned by the Global Warming Campaign Director or National Campaigns Director.
7. Work closely with the Grassroots Department to build partnerships.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: - Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Experience and Accomplishments: - A minimum of 7 years experience in campaigning in a political or public advocacy context, organizing, fundraising or strategic partner development. - Track record in successful campaigning. - Media savvy, especially in television interviews. - Proven ability to work both independently and in close coordination with a team. - Strong skills and experience in two of the three key campaign areas, research/writing, public speaking/lobbying, and/or organizing people around an issue.
Skills: - Familiarity with environmental issues, with a particular emphasis on global warming science, policy and politics. - Excellent written and oral communication skills, and a proven ability to communicate complex issues to a variety of audiences and skill levels. - Ability to convey campaign strategies and approaches in a compelling manner, to both environmentalists and non-traditional allies. - Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks - Willingness to travel.
