Assistant Director for Strategic Planning and Programs
The Assistant Director for Strategic Planning and Programs will help the Center for Ethics develop and implement its ambitious plan for growth, innovation, and development. The Assistant Director is an essential member of the Center staff, reporting directly to the Center Director. The position combines elements of a development associate, organizational strategist, and special events manager. The Emory University Center for Ethics is a growing, dynamic Center with over 25 faculty from every school at the university. The Center engages in scholarly research and teaching in ethics, and engages in wide-ranging programming to encourage the practical application of ethical thinking in the professions, in business, in politics, and in everyday life.
Initial responsibility for this position focuses on two major commitments that will position the Center for the future: the 2010 Twentieth Anniversary celebration of the Centers Founding and a world conference sponsored by the Center in 2012. Working closely with the leadership of the Center, the Assistant Director will provide leadership to and steward all efforts associated with these two significant special events. Leading a diverse team of professionals, s/he will serve as working manager of both projects, developing event timelines, assuming responsibility for the execution of both events, helping recruit and develop corporate and other sponsorships, and establishing key indicators and measures of success.
Additionally, the Assistant Director will develop an evaluation strategy that can inform long-term program planning and development at the Center. In association with the Centers Leadership, the individual will work to develop effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance the mission of the Center, cultivate relationships with prospective donors, and identify strategic positioning objectives. The Assistant Director will work with Center leadership and the Universitys development personnel to create a long-range funding strategy for the Center.
