Established in Seattle in 2003, the Initiative for Global Development is an international alliance of business leaders that champions effective solutions to global poverty. A newly elevated position for The Initiative for Global Development, the Vice President, Development will work closely with the CEO, COO and the Board of Directors to develop and implement a comprehensive fund development effort. She/He will be responsible for solidifying the current network of 250 identified donors while continuing to grow the donor base from foundation, major donor, corporate, and Board sources. The Vice President will be responsible for strengthening and maximizing the organization’s philanthropic potential while maintaining a high level of integrity in fundraising activities.
The Vice President, Development will be a passionate, innovative and sophisticated fund development professional who can express a genuine commitment to the organization’s mission and has a do what it takes attitude to achieve it. We seek candidates who have extensive experience leading and managing comprehensive donor development efforts, including a strong track record in major gifts cultivation and solicitation utilizing a variety of fundraising vehicles. As IGD supports an international movement, the VP will be comfortable working with a Board and donor base who are geographically dispersed and culturally diverse.
A minimum of five to seven years of major gift fundraising is required. Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree is required, MBA or Master’s level education preferred. Extensive knowledge of fundraising principles and techniques with a proven ability to secure philanthropic donations is necessary. Candidate must be proficient using Microsoft Office Suite, donor software, CRM systems (Salesforce.com experience is a plus) and in designing and executing sophisticated research practices, including contemporary internet-based and social-network media savvy cultivation.
