The Micah Project, a faith based community organizing non-profit based in New Orleans, seeks a communications and operations coordinator. The Micah Project works with congregations in the Greater New Orleans area to develop and train community leaders to advocate on behalf of themselves, their neighbors, and their community. Micah does this by identifying common concerns, researching possible solutions, and collaborating with key decision-makers to implement effective solutions.
The communications and operations coordinator will be involved in communication, research, finance, and administrative projects. The communications and operations coordinator will have the opportunity to work closely not only with staff, but also with members of the community in an environment that emphasizes professional and personal development as it fights to address the structural causes of poverty. This person must be a team player who is committed to social justice.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Managing the day-to-day operations of the Micah office
Creating communication documents, such as flyers, brochures, newsletters, and press releases
Contacting media, preparing spokespeople for interviews, and generating press attention for events
Maintaining and managing e-mail database
Updating and maintain website as well as other social networks such as Facebook and Twitter
Tracking expenses, grants, and other bookkeeping responsibilities
Research topics as assigned by Director
Bachelors of Arts degree
Strong writing skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Suites, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
Ability to manage administration matters
Salesforce and Salsa knowledge (preferred)
Quickbooks knowledge (preferred)
Website management (preferred)
Commitment to building a strong community across faiths
