DIRECT SUPERVISOR: Senior Director, Development
POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Specialist, Development is responsible for implementing ongoing systematic improvements to ensure a growing base of financial support as executed through a comprehensive fundraising program consistent with the organization's mission and strategic plan, with focus on identifying, tracking major donor sources. The Senior Specialist, Development supervises (1) full-time staff member.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop and implement ongoing comprehensive development research and donor prospect management, including prospect identification, prioritization, biographical and financial research, wealth and giving capacity analysis, and data mining
• Manage Development analytical software and database, including but not limited to Raiser’s Edge
• Provide timely comprehensive donor prospect profiles and analytical expertise for development officers
• Oversee implementation of timely donor reports, and master prospect tracking report; participate in bi-weekly Prospect Moves meetings assisting with donor engagement and solicitation strategies of identified and rated prospects
• Manage a portfolio of 25 foundations and prepare solicitation grant proposals for timely submission
• Work closely with Senior Director, Development in preparing internal and external analysis reports, stewardship documents, and briefings, including but not limited to Board of Directors, corporate donors and prospects
• Manage relationship with Medical Research Charities and submit annual application for Combined Federal Campaign
• Oversee corporate Matching Gift program, including solicitation, donor submission requests, and proper recording of gifts in Raisers Edge database
• Travel as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities
• Any other duties as the Senior Director, Development, Executive Director, REF, or the Executive Vice President, ACR may assign
Job Requirementstop
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in non-profit fundraising
• Minimum three years fundraising and/or marketing research experience
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally, utilizing considerable tact and diplomacy, toward motivating and engaging a variety of constituents
• Advanced knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge or equivalent, Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Applications, databases and internet-based research (ResearchPoint and iWavePRO)
• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to maintain accountability and work independently and creatively while functioning as part of a cooperative and coordinated team
