Site Director- Renfroe (6th-8th Grade)
Reports to: Program Supervisor
Department: Children & Youth Services Division
Starting Salary Range: $25,792 - $27,040 Annually (Hourly equivalent is $12.40 - $13.00 an hour) DOQ (Exempt)
Work Hours: 9:30am-6:30pm Mon-Fri during the school year;
7am-4pm OR 8am-5pm Monday-Friday during Summer Camp; and some weekends and evenings for training and staff meetings throughout the year.

Purpose of Work:
The City of Decatur is looking for an energetic creative multi-tasker who is passionate about impacting the lives of middle school (6th-8th grade) children by creating engaging lesson plans for after school and summer camp programming. The Site Director serves a significant professional role by planning, implementing recreational activities and providing supervision for counselors and participants within Decatur's Children and Youth Services (CYS) guidelines. The SD also collaborates with school partners within the after-school programs. This position is critical to maintaining safe and high quality after-school and summer camp programs, supervision and management of part time staff, and consistent coordination between parents, school staff, children and program staff.

Engages in and supports the mission of the Community and Economic Development Department and the Children and Youth Services Division by carrying out department and division goals and objectives, creative problem solving, decision making, responsible stewardship of City resources, and positive reinforcement and consistent application of department rules, regulations, and standard operating guidelines.
Provides teaching, mentoring, and motivation to staff through modeling appropriate behavior and communicating knowledge, skills, and information.
Demonstrates individual accountability for the delivery of quality services and work product as a part of the overall department and City-wide strategic direction, goals and objectives.
Contributes to a superior work culture through participation in training and mentoring to develop leadership, management and technical skills in self and all employees.
Implements staff training programs and manages staff performance to assure the highest level of professional performance in standards in the fields of child care, after-school programming and camp.
Provides responsive and timely feedback on status and progress of work activities, department and city goals to staff and supervisor.
Demonstrates responsible stewardship of the organization’s resources through cost effective use of program supplies and equipment, communicating with families to promote timely revenue collection and managing overall program enrollment.
Provides onsite management of daily program operations including, but not limited to, staff and child attendance, coordination with school front office, Decatur Active Living front desk, group movement and activity schedules, and coordination with special activity instructors.
Effectively manages self through the independent initiation and accomplishment of tasks.
Coordinates with host organization partners in schools, recreation centers, field trip venues, pools, and camp facilities to ensure that expectations of all partners are met while achieving program goals and objectives.
Demonstrates a commitment to provide and require quality programming and meet CYS and city goals and objectives through cooperative and collaborative team and individual efforts.
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and human relationship skills in order to build effective working and team relationships, and relationships with Decatur families.
Works with other city departments and serves on appropriate inter-departmental teams.
Serves as liaison for all site and program related activities.
Develop and implement age-appropriate (6th-8th grade) lesson plans for programs.
Assesses program quality, and develops recommendations, programs, and procedures to provide the most effective and efficient program design to meet program goals and individual child needs.
Assists with interviews, orientation and training of site personnel and provides supervision and evaluation of day to day operations to assure personnel meet CYS division and regulatory requirements.
Organizes and maintains administrative records and reports for both personnel and participants including, but not limited to, attendance records, evaluation forms, discipline records and lesson plans.
Coordinates site representation on the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) that meets quarterly.
Produces quality work products that meet division standards including weekly newsletters, performance evaluations, incident reports, employee relations documentation, lesson plans, flyers, and postings.
Represents the division and the site at school and community functions staff meetings, parent conferences, phone calls, and community time with professionalism.
Oversees and maintains all program equipment and supplies to ensure the safe and effective administration of all program activities.
Works with administration, parent volunteers, site staff and host to complete and evaluate a self study, develop a site action plan and prepare site for after-school accreditation. Maintains accreditation standards daily.
Plans, coordinates, and actively facilitates field trips according to division standards.
Manages interactions, transitions and conflicts to promote appropriate behavior guidance, staff and child choices, disciplinary consequences and parent communication consistent with CYS behavior management guidelines.
Responds to all inquiries and complaints or makes referral to appropriate person.
A minimum of
· Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) in School Age Care and Youth Care or Program Management, Child Development Associate (CDA), AA or BA in ECE, Education or related field and two years of qualifying child care experience or
· Forty-hour (40) director training course approved by Bright from the Start and employed for a minimum of five (5) years as an on-site child care learning center director or as an on-site group day care home administrator/director or
· Any equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid State of Georgia driver's license (Non-commercial Class A or B) with a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR).
Skill in operating a personal computer and ability to use computer software such as Microsoft Office Suite.
Proven ability to assemble information and prepare concise, accurate written reports and documents such as newsletters and flyers.
Strong customer relations skills, conflict management, and proven staff management experience.
Professional demeanor and strong communication skills both oral and written.
Have a personal vehicle to drive for daily business on a mileage reimbursement basis.
No criminal record
Not be suffering from any physical handicap or mental health disorder that would interfere with the applicant’s ability to perform adequately the job duties of providing for the care and supervision of the children enrolled in the center in accordance with Child Care Licensing standards.
Be at least 21 years of age.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (10-50 lbs.) sit, bend, squat, and twist on a daily basis; must be able to physically operate city vehicle.
Ability to sit for long periods of time using office equipment and computers.
Ability to walk and stand in the outdoor (playground and park) setting including pools in extreme heat and cold for up to 8 hours daily.
Must have ability to deal with constant interruptions, noise, and meet with others on a regular basis.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check, work reference check, pre-employment post-offer physical and drug screen.
