The Director, Foundation Relations is responsible for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of foundations funding sources. The Director will devote approximately 80 percent of their time on direct cultivation, solicitation and relationship management. She/he will develop public/private partnerships on multidisciplinary projects as well as closing gifts from their portfolio of foundations sources. She/he is responsible as the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA) "expert" on her/his portfolio of foundation contacts and acts as a central point for matching capabilities and interests with the programs and priorities of the organization. The Director works independently and focuses their targets on closing gifts for the organization in a timely manner. As a member of the central development team, the Director will be expected to work collegially, and in partnership, with colleagues representing the organization’s funding interests.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 7 years’ experience working with foundation entities and a solid track record in obtaining foundation funding • Demonstrated solid project management skills • Strong verbal/interpersonal and presentation skills to communicate effectively with senior level executives • Demonstrated excellent writing skills and experience creating grant proposals and reports • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a team-oriented environment and within a multi-faceted organization structure • Proven experience working independently and meeting specific fund-raising targets • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite and fund development software, Raiser’s Edge preferred • Excellent organizational skills and managing multiple priorities with attention to detail and strong follow through • Travel up to 50 percent of the time involving day trips, overnight travel, and on weekends, when required • Valid driver’s license required • Bachelor’s degree in business, communication or related area, or equivalent relevant experience; Master’s degree in a related discipline desirable
