The Director of Development, a half-time, pro-rated benefits position, will coordinate and manage fundraising, marketing and community outreach for Bayhill High School. On behalf of Bayhill, the Director will: maintain and support database, gift processing, and prospect management needs; coordinate and execute fundraising programs; oversee marketing related to fundraising; prepare, submit, and follow up on grant applications; and provide strategic planning and direction in order to sustain and strengthen individual, foundation and corporate revenue streams. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising * Develop a program to attract maximum gift support possible, including Annual Fund solicitation, planned giving programs, corporate/foundation relations, and planning for possible major capital gifts. * Develop and oversee school fundraising events. * Design, implement and manage all fundraising activities including annual giving; endowment and capital campaigns; corporate letters of inquiry’ special projects; donor identification and cultivation; and other school-related solicitations. * Research prospective private and corporate foundations and maintain grants calendar/timeline. * Develop letters of inquiry and write grant proposals complete with collateral material in a deadline driven environment. * Build relationships and promote annual giving among the school's various constituencies. * Pursue ongoing professional development by training, professional meetings, or other means.
Board of Trustees Relations * Develop with the Executive Director a 3-5 year development strategy for Board consideration. * Develop fundraising training for Trustees and other leadership volunteers.
Parent Relations, Marketing & Advertising * Design and oversee production of all fundraising and development publications, including working with designers and printers. * Create and implement communication and promotional plans for the various fundraising campaigns.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Prefer at least three years professional development experience in independent schools * Superior organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills * Experience in annual fundraising * Experience with and knowledge of fundraising databases * Experience identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major annual, capital, endowment and/or planned gift prospects and donors * Strong work ethic, ability to provide leadership and motivation, to work as a team player, and to build and maintain strong relationships with individuals and groups * Excellent writing skills * Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
