Spirit Rock Meditation Center is an internationally known retreat center in Marin County, CA (located 19 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge) that offers a range of classes, events, and residential meditation retreats. Spirit Rock is located on a beautiful campus with offices/facilities on 400 acres of land and a staff of approximately 50.
JOB SUMMARY The Senior Executive Administrator and Special Liaison (SEASL) provides a full range of high-level executive support to the Executive Director (ED), Spirit Rock’s senior position. The Senior Executive Administrator and Special Liaison will support the ED through strategic relationship management and communications. The SEASL will manage communications with the Board and all of Spirit Rock’s executive governing committees. The SEASL will take formal minutes at all governance meetings, follow up on all governance action items, provide institutional knowledge/background during meetings, manage meeting calendars, agendas and presentations. The SEASL manages special projects on an ongoing basis from start to finish by partnering with the ED as well as other members of the senior team. S/He will provide general administrative support by drafting correspondence, maintaining files, ordering supplies and ensuring the ED’s administrative and project-oriented needs are met at all times and that everyday operations run smoothly and efficiently. The SEASL will act on behalf of the ED and will be the primary point person for individual Board members, Teachers Council members, and all governance committees’ members for correspondence, resources, and new member orientation. The Senior Executive Administrator and Special Liaison is uniquely positioned to help unlock organizational potential and support the Executive Director to carry out Spirit Rock’s mission.
QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has the capacity to manage competing priorities, has a keen eye for detail, and is capable of producing a high volume of work with intelligence, grace, and calmness under pressure of deadlines. The candidate should hold a unique mix of administrative knowledge, project management skills and the ability to work as a partner at an executive level. Three or more years of experience working for a senior-level executive, excellent written and verbal communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Problem solving skills are a must and a mature sensitivity in dealing with a wide variety of people and situations required. Stellar organizational and time management skills are essential. Must have the ability to work proactively and anticipate needs. Experience with Spirit Rock’s programs, mission, and practices preferred.
