POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Actively seek, identify and recognize external sources that present viable funding opportunities and align with institutional strategic goals.
Provide a full spectrum of assistance to faculty and staff in the planning, writing, program design, budget development and evaluation of grants; develop procedures to encourage and assist grant proposal writing and submission.
Oversee, coordinate and assist principal investigators, faculty and staff with all phases of the grant development process; align Grant Proposal Development services with the needs of the institution.
Coordinate the development and maintenance of a faculty research expertise database
Create, design and implement processes and procedures related to proposal development.
Hire, plan, direct, review and critique the work of external grant writers developing proposals for the institution.
Create and write materials related to grants development.
Conduct one-on-one training and group workshops to develop and write grant proposals.
Perform other related job duties as assigned

Proficient with the use of computers for spreadsheet/word processing, databases, and online research
Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects, meet critical deadlines and work independently

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relations with all segments of the institutional community, external agencies and the general public
Ability to prepare successful grant proposals including double checking grant text and structure against grant requirements
Knowledge of principles and techniques of grant proposal writing and budgeting
Knowledge of grant writing resources and information sources; grant monitoring and compliance procedures; federal funding sources and relevant government rules, guidelines and regulations
Knowledge of administration in institutions of higher education
Excellent analytical, organizational, project management, marketing, budgeting, negotiation, strategic and business planning, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to develop and apply flexibility, resourcefulness, and creative approaches to unique problems with an understanding of the full institutional context.
Minimum Qualifications: Doctoral Degree with broad-based experience in Biomedical Research; expertise in developing research grant applications that were highly successful in obtaining funding. Four years of professional work experience directly related to the essential job duties in the areas of grant proposal and development.
