Chief Financial Officer



Today in Central Florida, hundreds of thousands of children, seniors and families are experiencing hardship and the number one problem caused by the current economic situation is hunger. Last year, nearly one in five of our neighbors could not afford to buy enough food. Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a private, nonprofit organization that collects and distributes donated food to more than 500 nonprofit partner agencies in six Central Florida counties. With the generous support of our community and partners we strive toward our vision of creating a hunger free Central Florida.

We are currently seeking a Chief Financial Officer to lead the overall financial plans, policies and accounting practices. This role is responsible for the direction of all accounting activity including general, property, revenue, cost accounting, budgetary control, and reporting. Supervises & directs financial, payroll functions and overall responsibility for risk management program and outside contracts.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Finance Functions
a. Oversee & support all financial management and accounting functions including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, general ledger, financial statement preparation & reporting, tax return preparation, monitoring of capital assets and inventory
b. Responsible for financial management of the capital campaign
c. Direct the organization’s overall financial plans, policies, and accounting practices for the recording & maintenance of its fiscal records
d. Responsible for budget, financial forecasting, audit, and investment oversight
e. Apply advance knowledge of non-profit accounting principles & pronouncements in addition to generally accepted accounting principles
f. Establish cost allocation methods & procedures to distribute to elements of the organization
g. Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets
h. Manage cash flow needs
i. Oversee all banking & financial institution relationships
j. Implement & manage controls over grant expenditures and other Net Assets
k. Monitor contractual obligations including State of Florida Dept. of Agriculture (TEFAP) and Department of Health (CCFP)
l. Manage all claims and reporting to insurance carriers
2. Administration
a. Oversee the administrative staff functions including the receptionist, order entry support and Data Manager

Job Specifications:
1. Bachelors degree in accounting or business administration is required – CPA preferred
2. A minimum of 5 years management/supervisory experience performing substantially comparable functions is required
3. Experience in a non-profit environment or with non-profit financial reporting is highly desired
4. Advanced knowledge of accounting & related systems software is required
5. Self-starter, positive attitude, goal-oriented, flexible, committed to the mission of hunger alleviation is highly desired
