National Programs Manager

Braille Institute of America, Inc. is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to eliminate blindness and severe sight loss as a barrier to the fulfillment of life. Through educational training, programs and services, Braille Institute helps people regain and maintain their independence through five regional centers (Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Orange County, Rancho Mirage, and San Diego) and through more than 135 community outreach programs

We currently are seeking a National Programs Manager in Los Angeles to join our National Programs team. This position is responsible for:
• Coordinating goals of inter-disciplinary teams implementing Braille Institute’s traditional, web based and mobile programs such as a national reading and writing literacy contest, a mobility skills contest, and aggregation app for visually impaired users and vision simulation app;
• Liaison to external experts and partners in the field of blind services who support Braille Institute’s national initiatives;
• Directly supervise a braille publishing coordinator and the production of braille materials for national programs;
• Ensure timely production of support materials related to national programs;
• Track and report all national program activities.

Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field;
• 5 years program experience or 7 years’ experience in a non-profit environment;
• Previous supervisory experience;
• Background in the fields of human service or vision impairment;
• Basic understanding of publishing and production;
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task priorities and assignments;
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
