2 Positions: The Teachers will be responsible for planning and implementing curriculum for children ages 6 weeks-5 years old. They must ensure the development and safety of these children in accordance with relevant federal, territorial and municipal legislation and policies. The position is under the supervision of the Childcare Director.
Monitors daily instruction, lesson planning, nurturing and caretaking of children. The teachers will ensure that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained. Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program. Ensure children are supervised at all times. Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand. Work cooperatively in a team approach with other staff, volunteers, and parents. The teachers may come in contact with children who are ill and/or contagious, and must take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children, parents, staff and themselves.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum requirement of CDA. Two years in a preschool setting required.
CDA, or Bachelors Degree in related field. Familiar with Bright from the Start Licensing Regulations or experience working in licensed childcare facility.
Knowledge and understanding of the homeless population and/or experience working with low-income families. Experience working in NAEYC Accredited childcare facility.
