The Director of Finance is responsible for the overall financial operations including budget control, payroll, accounting systems & processes, compliance, security of information, and IT department. The position will provide financial leadership, direction and analysis to the management team and Board of Directors. The Director is also responsible for developing financial planning, reporting, and implementing systems & processes which ensure the financial operations are compliant and consistent with established policies and practices as well as all regulatory agencies.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Strategic Analysis/Problem Solving - Works to fully understand business; identifies and implements systems and processes which contribute to organizational improvements. • Conducts and prepares analytical reports for management as required including financial statements, business plans, business insurance proposals, new ventures, etc. • Participates in strategic planning and developing corporate goals. • Ensures execution of corporate and financial objectives. • Assists management team with planning & developing annual and capital budgets. Consolidate all information into one organizational budget. • Reviews monthly expenditures and ensures that budgetary guidelines are followed. • Preparation of Month-end, Quarter-end & Year-end financial statements including tax returns as well as other similar reports • Assists management team in reviewing contracts, analyzing the cost of new programs , services, and proposed ventures • Ensure records systems are maintained with state, federal budgetary requirements as well as other regulatory agencies • Reconciling general ledger, banking, and investment accounts • Coordination of audits, i.e. internal/external audits, workers comp, retirement plan, etc. • Analyze cash flow, cost controls & expenses, manage budget planning & forecasting • Requires hands-on activity to ensure operational processes and procedures are prepared timely, compliant and consistent with established policies. • Leads, plans, and coordinates work teams in an efficient manner to effectively perform all financial functions and activities. • Accountable for direct supervision of the Accounting Department including Payroll & IT • Oversees all payroll processes, reviews and approves payroll submissions as required • Coordinates with IT Manager to ensure that all data/information is secure and systems are operational • Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisals and professional development of direct reports Qualifications: • Prefer 6-8 years minimum management experience in accounting and or finance • Requires CPA certifications and strong proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel. • Experience in non-profit accounting as well as MAS 200 is desired. • Knowledge of IT functions helpful.
