Graphics Designer

Position Summary
The Graphics Designer provides design and production support to Creative Services for all United Way Greater Atlanta (UWGA) print communications. They will have experience and ability to follow UWGA branding guidelines and messaging. The Graphics Designer will ensure the look and feel of the print product is consistent with the direction from the creative supervisor and local and national marketing leadership. This person will also be a team player ensuring that the message conveyed follows the initial vision for the project. In addition, they will be able to deliver the highest quality when producing print collateral, ads, brochures, presentations, corporate identity systems, and electronic media pages / e-documents. Moreover, the designer will be able to deliver, on demand and under pressure, files that are technically accurate and visually appealing. They will have hands-on knowledge when working on hi-res format projects as well as economy-of- scale web formats. The designer will also proofread projects to ensure visual content is correct prior to press and have experience with the printer proof and press check sign-off process

Responsibilities
• Full understanding of printing process and electronic file preparation for vendors
• Proficient in page design, page layout production and photo editing
• Ability to be creative “on the fly” and bring effective ideas to solve design problems
• Strong ideation and concept development skills
• Proficient in executing design concepts and adhering to creative direction in all projects
• Ability to work within established workflow processes
• Complete design work and send/proof sample to appropriate internal customer for review/approval
• Ability to display a sophisticated design sense and working experience, owning a project from concept to finished piece
• Experience in client and vendor negotiations
• Experience working with photographers
• Manage electronic files of key elements, photos, materials and brand concepts
• Familiarity with Web technology and design
• Basic video editing and photography a plus
• Strong illustration skills a plus

Qualifications
• Requires Bachelors Degree in graphic design or other art field with portfolio of professional print and web design work
• 2 – 4 years experience in advertising, graphic design, or production field within a corporate marketing environment

Skills and Abilities Requirements
• Demonstrate high proficiency with current graphic design software, including all Adobe Creative Suite (CS5.5) applications, Apple iLife Suites, Microsoft Office applications
• Knowledgeable and experienced with print production process
• Strong working knowledge of font families and typefaces, jpg, tiff, eps, file management formats
• Strong working knowledge of color management systems working with CMYK, RGB, Spot and built colors
