Serve a vital role for a 105 year old – dynamic organization!
We work to prevent and control lung disease and promote clean air. The purpose of this position is to facilitate public awareness of lung health and air quality issues, our services and how our mission can be supported.
Duties include developing and implementing an annual calendar/work plan that includes: • monthly e-newsletters , annual report • monthly updates of website carousel • Daily monitoring of rss feeds • Ensuring that the web site is current and dynamic (in collaboration with the web-master) • Agency press coverage: calendar listings /press conferences/letters to the editor/op ed pieces • Semi weekly social network market announcements, info leads, via FB, Twitter, etc. • Speaking engagements to local service clubs and civic organizations • Producing videos and podcasts for distribution via the web on lung health, clean air and fundraising events • Monitoring and running timely ad word campaigns • Building relationships with local media outlets
Promotion and protection of Breathe California Brand: • Utilize BCGGPHP Messaging Guide and talking points in preparation of materials and all communications • Collaborate with other Breathe California and Breathe America associates to share resources
Development of Communications Resources: • Seek grant funding, media sponsorships, internships, etc. to enhance Communications efforts • Collaborate with other organizations to grow traffic to our website • Generate public support for our work
Ideal Candidate: • Familiar with developing content for multiple venues including print, broadcast, electronic and social network media • Excellent communication skills / Proficient public speaking skills • Proven abilities with web outreach, social network and direct marketing • Experience with audio and video production • Creative out of the box thinker who can maximize Breathe California’s exposure on a relatively small marketing/communications budget
Resources Breathe California provides: • In-house web master and graphic artist • Other staff with communications backgrounds • Collaborative and dynamic work environment • Communications infrastructure in place
• Consultant position or up to half time
• Contract/ Salary commensurate with experience
• Must have a valid CA driver’s license
