COMPANY SUMMARY:
It’s The Journey, Inc. is a fundraising organization which grants funds to dozens of breast cancer organizations across Georgia. Our flagship event is the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer – a 30-mile event consisting of a 20-mile walk on Saturday and a 10-mile walk on Sunday. Our money is raised locally and spent locally and targeted toward the support, diagnosis, treatment and well being of breast cancer survivors and their families.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develops and updates collateral material for It’s The Journey
• Maintains and updates It’s The Journey’s website
• Writes and sends weekly e-blasts
• Manages social media including Facebook and Twitter
• Manages media relations and requests for the Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer
• Serves as a face of It’s The Journey for speeches and walker recruitment efforts
• Develops dynamic presentations for new corporate sponsor prospects and renewals
• Helps to manage corporate sponsorships
• Develops, edits, writes original stories for placement in local publications
• Grant writing
• Development/Fundraising duties as needed
• Assists in planning, coordinating and administering various 2-Day Walk events
• Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• Undergraduate degree in marketing, journalism or public relations or equivalent work experience.
• Requires six or more years of experience in a marketing position

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Possess strong written and oral communication skills
• Able to effectively speak and present to small and large audiences
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure, despite numerous interruptions
• Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a variety of individuals in person, via telephone and in writing
• Ability to work independently and resolve practical problems. Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Possess strong interpersonal skills
• Able to perform detail oriented work and provide appropriate level of follow-up with vendors
• Works well independently and as part of a team
• Ability to provide accuracy and attention to detail
• Must have excellent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint and databases
• Able to interact positively and effectively with co-workers
• High level of personal and professional integrity
• Has a passion for the mission and a strong desire to succeed

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends as necessary
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must be able to lift boxes and event equipment up to 20 pounds, as necessary
