Mission Statement: Culture Connect fosters cultural fluency between immigrants and the community at large through language services, mentoring, and education.
The position will report to the Language Services Manager and is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day activities of the Language Services Program including day-to-day operations, recruitment, training, and monitoring. This position also works closely with the Accounting Clerk. This program provides professional interpretation and translation in over 60 languages in the medical, educational, social, and legal fields. We strive to not only bridge languages, but also cultures, in order to facilitate easy, accurate communication.
General Responsibilities: • Schedule interpreters for requestors; maintain relationships with contractors • Ensures quality control of language services • Maintain and update filing system • Provide superior customer service to interpreters; partners; customers; and community organizations • Conduct unannounced "observations" of interpreters out on assignment locations • Contribute to the development of future trainings for interpreters, as needed • Participate in monthly staff meetings and other agency sponsored events • Assist other staff member as necessary • Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements: • 4-year college degree preferred • Previous administrative experience • Strong time management skills and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines with keen attention to details and follow through • Professional appearance and conduct (including pleasant and professional phone and email communication) • Excellent word processing and database skills, including knowledge of spreadsheets as well as the use of Microsoft Office applications • Excellent interpersonal skills, maintaining tact and diplomacy in all situations • Must be very detail-oriented and organized • Ability to work independently • Must have an interest in, passion for, and commitment to Culture Connect’s mission • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work from our office in Decatur • Reliable transportation with the willingness to travel around Metro Atlanta area • Have experience working with diverse communities (refugees, immigrants) • Excellent communication skills with the ability to resolve problems • Results oriented with the ability to meet deadlines • Functions effectively in a fast paced environment
