Culture Connect fosters cultural fluency between immigrants and the community at large through language services, mentoring, and education.
We are seeking an accounting associate who has knowledge of accounting principles and practices with a fluency in Quickbooks and possesses a passion for our non-profit mission. This position may turn into a full-time position with additional functions and benefits.
General Responsibilities:
• Manage general bookkeeping responsibilities, including but not limited to accounts receivable, collections, and reporting
• Provide monthly financial reporting to supervisor
• Maintain and update filing system
• Provide customer service to partners; customers; community organizations via email or phone calls
• Research & resolve billing discrepancies
• Maintain data management system in a various formats: Salesforce, QB, spreadsheets
• Participate in monthly staff meetings and other agency sponsored events;
• Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
• Bookkeeping experience preferred with fluency in Quickbooks
• Excellent word processing and database skills, including knowledge of spreadsheets as well as the use of Microsoft Office applications
• Strong time management skills and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines with keen attention to detail and follow through
• Excellent interpersonal skills, maintaining tact and diplomacy in all situations
• Must be very detail-oriented and organized
• Strong time management skills
• Ability to work independently
• Professional appearance and conduct (including pleasant and professional phone and email communication)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; bilingual preferred
• Ability to work from our office in Decatur
Our preferred candidate:
• Demonstrate an understanding of accounting principles and practices, particularly for non-profit accounting and tax concepts
• Navigate Quickbooks with ease and can perform intermediate Excel functions
• Have clear verbal and written communication skills, preferably be bilingual
• Have the ability to resolve conflicts with customers without compromising quality customer services
• Have experience working with diverse communities (refugees, immigrants)
• Possess a strong commitment to fulfilling Culture Connect's mission
• A team player who is flexible to willing to go beyond their function
