Position Summary
The Senior Director, Education will develop and drive the strategy to improve the outcomes for high school and post-secondary young adults in the metro Atlanta region. The Senior Director will ensure that they graduate prepared for careers. This individual will also provide leadership and support in an efficient investment process for all of United Way resources to maximize United Way’s measurable impact in Education.

Responsibilities
• Develop a sustainability plan, align resources and develop a best practices and model that can be replicated and sustained with identified resources
• Design, coordinate or implement best practice strategies to support successful high school completion and transition to college/advanced training
• Develop and implement an investment system for the education portfolio that is in accordance with the Community Impact Plans which will achieve planned results.
• Develop and implement systems of training education staff, UW education grantees, and volunteers involved in the annual investment process.
• Develop and implement education RFPs and Review Process and alternate funding methodologies in response to investment strategy.

• Works closely with counterparts in Income, Education and Homelessness to ensure social determinants are integrated into programs as appropriate
• Implement monitoring and evaluation methodologies to ensure the effectiveness of the UWMA education strategy for high school and post-secondary education
• Facilitate and negotiate partnerships with and among local institutions, community groups and organizations (foundations, state and local government, businesses, churches, schools, grantees, neighborhoods, juvenile justice, etc.)
• Determine effective ways to engage and facilitate citizens and community groups to support UWMA efforts to improve education outcomes for young adults aged 13-24
• Enhance relationships with and interacts with UW grantees (Agency Forum) providing problem resolution and assistance
• Develop and implement systems of training for Education staff, UW grantees, and volunteers involved in the annual investment process
• Build cross-functional relationships among staff in Health, Income and Homelessness
• Ensure programs integrate strategies in Health, Income and Homelessness, where appropriate, to achieve planned outcomes
• Take responsibility for other assignments as they arise related to agency relations

Qualifications
Graduate degree in Education, High School or Post Secondary Education or related field
At least four years in a leadership position in a high school or post secondary educational institution
Five to ten years experience in managing, directing and supervising professional and program staff
Five years experience in managing and directing contracted external professional and program staff in metro, urban and rural counties
