Manager, Accounting-Real Estate and Economic Development


Background
Founded in 1972, PEC is a comprehensive homeless services provider and experienced nonprofit community development agency based in West Philadelphia. The agency employs nearly 100 staff to serve its community and constituents through social services, counseling, case management, commercial corridor revitalization, community organizing, and quality affordable rental housing. Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in finance or accounting
• Minimum of 5 years accounting experience
• Exceptional planning and accounting skills is a must
• Proficiency with Excel and Word. Blackbaud Financial and Raiser’s Edge experience a plus

Reports to: VP, Finance and CFO

Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of the Manager, Accounting – Real Estate and Economic Development is to manage the day to day and/or routine financial activities and support for the Community Development Corporation (CDC), Saunders Park and other commercial entities. The Manager, Accounting Real Estate and Economic Development must ensure that the organization is in compliance with all government funding requirements and perform all accounting duties in compliance with generally accepted accounting principle.

Financial Administration of Government, Foundation and Corporation Grants
• Prepare/review budgets and other financial reports requested during the application process
• Voucher agencies for funds per the instructions of the approved contract
• Prepare various grant status reports
• Address various financial concerns of funders
• Maintain accurate contract files with up to date contracts and financial support documents

Monthly closing of books and preparation of financial statements
• Perform monthly closing process according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles for PECCDC
• Prepare journal entries
• Prepare monthly account analysis of all balance sheet accounts
• Reconcile intercompany accounts
• Prepare financial statements
• Review financial statements with VP of Finance
• Update cost allocation trial balance and payroll schedules

Cash Management
• Responsible for the CDC’s cash management as it pertains to the timely processing and reconciliation of cash receipts/deposits within the Blackbaud Financial & Raiser’s Edge systems, weekly cash management reporting, and monthly cash flow projections.

Payroll
• Assume backup position for payroll processing. Allocate CDC wages and benefits to current funding contracts.

Accounts Payable
• Assure the accurate and timely process of vendor invoices
• Assist Coordinator, Payroll and Finance in resolving payment concerns with vendors

Budgets
• Assist VP, Finance and CFO in creation and monitoring of annual budgets for the CDC, which will include developing a monthly budget and quarterly financial forecast for each business unit.

Cash Flow
• Assist VP, Finance and CFO in creation and monitoring of annual cash flow budgets for the CDC.

Audit
• Assist in preparation of year end work papers. Minimize non-auditing duties to be performed by outside auditors. Prepare, when applicable, audit work papers for the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and cost certification work when required by governing agencies.
