The Operations Manager of SEIU Local 221 is responsible for managing, planning and coordinating the operations of the union. This is a management level position that reports directly to the President, and works closely and collaboratively with Department Directors. The Operations Manager is an integral part of the Local 221 management team that ensures the day-to-day operations run smoothly and supports union-wide programming.

The Operations Manager’s responsibilities include:

Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of Human Resources, IT, Finance and Facilities through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between each
Play a significant role in long-term planning and anticipating future needs
Oversee overall financial management, planning, systems controls and budgeting
Manage the yearly and monthly budget process in coordination with the President, Secretary- Treasurer and finance staff, providing regular information and feedback to department directors on spending
Manage dues processing to ensure timely payment from employers and updating of member information
Manage the payroll function, including tabulation of paid time off
Supervise administrative support staff
Manage external vendors related to administrative functions
All other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Commitment to social justice and the mission SEIU Local 221
At least 5 years’ experience in operations management
Experience directing information technology function and IT best practices
Experience directing administrative staff
Significant budget development and oversight experience
Extensive experience managing outside vendors
Experience in HR systems and policies
Experience managing facilities
Demonstrated leadership managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Proficiency in excel, word, outlook
Attentive to details and facts
Ability to delegate responsibilities effectively
High comfort level working in a fast paced, diverse environment
