We are currently looking for a Development Director to fill the following opportunity for one of our non-profit clients in San Jose, CA

Development Director

The Development Director oversees a multi-faceted fundraising strategy to support and sustain our client's mission. Key areas of responsibility include: major gift solicitation, donor relations, board relations, special events, capital campaign, grants management, database management, budgeting and projections, foundation and corporate relations, direct mail, and online giving. Particular emphasis is currently being placed on major gift solicitation, donor relations, special events, and an upcoming capital campaign. The Development Director is seen as an ambassador and advocate for the organization in the community, and works closely with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to successfully drive all areas of fundraising.

Major responsibilities include:

- Directs and manages overall fundraising efforts to meet or exceed annual budget goals
- Develops and implements strategies to broaden the funding base for our client
- Identifies and secures major gifts
- Oversees the planning and production of all fundraising events
- Oversees the planning and execution of a capital campaign for the 50th anniversary of the organization in 2015
- Cultivates relationships with foundation and corporate representatives and leaders
- Researches and identifies potential funding sources
- Oversees the writing and submission of grant proposals and follow-up reports to institutional donors
- Increases donor giving at all levels through ongoing cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
- Oversees production of fund development public relations materials including newsletters, annual reports, brochures, and other promotional materials
- Manages development staff to meet departmental objectives
- Oversees management of the donor database, and all gift processing
- Serves as the primary liaison to the Board Fund Development Committee
- Participates as a member of the senior management team to formulate and implement policies and plans to meet the organization's short and long term objectives

Requirements:

- A well-developed network in the Silicon Valley philanthropic community
- A successful track record in identifying and securing major gifts
- A successful track record in special event and project management
- A successful track record in overseeing capital campaigns
- Five or more years of increasing responsibility and a successful track record in fund development
- Demonstrated leadership skills in a high-performance team environment, including managing staff
- The ability to manage multiple projects and work efficiently under deadline
- Extensive knowledge of current trends in foundation and corporate giving
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other office productivity tools (email, database management, digital media, etc); proficiency in Salesforce a plus
