Upward Bound House (UBH) is a community-based, social service agency headquartered in Santa Monica California. The mission of UBH is to eliminate homelessness among families with children by providing housing, supportive services and advocacy. UBH fulfills its mission through Family Place, a transitional housing facility; Family Shelter, an emergency shelter; and a variety of intensive wrap-around services for families with children. The organization has an operating budget of approximately $2 million. There are usually 50 families being served at any point in time. In addition to programs for homeless families with children, UBH operates and manages Senior Villa, a 70 unit facility for very low income seniors.
The current Executive Director will be departing early in 2013 and UBH is conducting a search for a new Executive Director (ED). This individual will build on the success of the departing ED by reaching out to more families who are confronted with a homeless crisis. There is a need to increase the level of financial support for the organization in order to assist more families in need. A strategic plan has recently been mapped out to increase capacity and improve program and administrative efficiencies.
The ideal candidate for this role will be knowledgeable of the local homeless landscape and will have a strong background in helping an organization raise funds from the public and private sectors. Management experience is also critical as the successful candidate will manage more than 30 full time employees, including four direct reports. In addition, s/he must demonstrate strong skills in operations management, program planning, human resource planning and management, community relations/advocacy, and finance.
The new Executive Director will be a highly motivated and accountable administrator; a visionary leader and a capable and effective fundraiser. He/she should be highly dedicated to the Upward Bound House mission.
UBH is offering a competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications and experience, as well as an excellent benefits package.
