Position Overview:
FIS seeks a mid-level professional with curriculum and professional development training experience who is interested in supporting the mission, vision, and ongoing development of the organization. The individual will support the program departments in standardizing best practices for parent engagement-based training and curriculum development across all program content areas. In addition, he/she will develop training modules for school/agency staff and parents, field test modules for quality control, and facilitate trainings with both school/agency staff and parents, as needed. The position is full-time and exempt, reporting to the organization's Vice President.

- Develop and maintain the organization's best practices training toolkit to include sample lessons, activities, assessment tools, and outreach/recruitment/program retention strategies for use across all of FIS's pre-K through college program content areas.
- Develop training modules and conduct professional development workshops for school/agency staff related to research-based parent engagement strategies and best practices.
- Assist program directors in developing and/or conducting "train the facilitators" trainings for school staff related to our parent engagement curricula.
- Provide technical assistance support to site-based facilitators trained in FIS parent engagement curriculums via phone, webinars, workshops, etc.
- Update or develop culturally-relevant curriculum and tools related to parent engagement for use by school/agency staff or parents (brochures, lesson-plans, etc.)
- Develop strategic relationships with school districts and education organizations to make trainings and curriculum available to them.
- Represent FIS at conferences and meetings to showcase FIS curriculum and materials.
- Assist in preparing logic models, letters of inquiry, proposals and grant applications when needed.
- Promote FIS, its mission and social impact through external relations.
- Arrange and participate in meetings with funders and/or clients, when needed.
- Manage assigned staff and/or consultants, who are utilized primarily for training, development or other support.
- Provide support to President and Program Directors in the implementation of programmatic activities when necessary.
- Perform other duties as requested and relevant to the organization's operations.

EMAIL ALL APPLICATIONS TO Skills/Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have a BA or BS degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of experience in training and curriculum development. Candidate must be highly organized, able to implement agency-wide systems and follow-up processes with diplomacy and tact, able to effectively work under pressure and produce a high quality work product within tight time constraints. - Bachelor's degree is required; an advanced degree preferred - Clear and significant experience in developing curriculum and/training using adult learning and popular education techniques  Prior experience working with low-income and/or immigrant families on issues of education  Experience using new media to deliver training and/or provide technical assistance via distance learning - Understanding of the public school system, including how to successfully navigate bureaucratic institutions - Excellent people skills with the ability to build relationships with school staff and administrators  Exceptional writing and editing skills  Experience working in low-income communities, schools, and/or community-based (nonprofit) agencies  Community-focused with multicultural sensitivity  Technology savvy and solid proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat Professional - Strong interpersonal and human relations skills - Desire to work in the nonprofit field  Passionate in promoting community development through quality education and parent engagement - Availability to work on weekends and evenings as necessary - Strong work ethic with a clear commitment to professional quality and excellence - Capability to think strategically while executing tactically within a high-functioning team-oriented environment - Ability to use good judgment in executing tasks and solving problems  Ability to accomplish tasks in an adequate time frame  Ability to work in a fast paced, results-oriented office environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality - Ability to work independently and as a member of a highly collaborative, integrated team - Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively - Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable - Access to a car, possession of a valid driver's license, and proof of automobile insurance - Ability to successfully pass a finger-print background check.
