Reporting to the President of BLI, the Vice President-Development will provide leadership and oversight to all Development functions, focusing on strategic direction for planning, organizing, and implementing the fund raising strategies and efforts of Bible League International. These responsibilities will include providing direct supervision to Senior Director of Development Services, Senior Director of Direct Partner Relations, and the Senior Administrative Assistant, and seven Regional Field Directors. The Vice President will work closely with the Director of Communications to insure continuity of messaging and branding in collateral and other materials and resources. In addition, The new Vice President will also provide leadership and support in other areas to include Research and Estate Planning, Marketing, Public Relations, Project Analysis, Direct Mail, Radio, Special Events, Telemarketing, and other related promotional programs and promotion efforts as well as all constituency enhancement activities.
Role & Responsibilities
Participating as a member of the Executive Management Team, the new Vice President will be responsible for the development and implementation of Bible League International’s resource development (fundraising) efforts and provide leadership in the creation and execution of the Strategic Plan to include setting realistic goals, implementing and managing plans to meet those goals and be accountable for the results. S/He will ensure that all management and administrative tools necessary for the successful operation of the Development function are in place and effectively implemented to achieve desired results.
The new Vice President will provide oversight of the development of creative and innovative means of raising funds to provide the financial resources required to meet the ministry goals and opportunities available to Bible League International. In addition, s/he will be actively involved in calling on personal portfolio of executive donors and premier prospects. He will increase the awareness of BLI’s ministry through public speaking opportunities and media events as available.
Requirements & Qualifications
The new Vice President will be a committed Christian, having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and subscribe to BLI‘s Statement of Faith. S/he will be committed to international missions and ministry in general and the ministry of Scripture Placement specifically. The new Vice President will have a minimum of 7 years’ experience in all major areas of fund raising; including a minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership capacity, with experience in the oversight of the fundraising function and staff. S/He will have a well-developed “theology” of fundraising and be committed to assisting donors define and achieve their stewardship objectives.
The new Vice President will have earned a Bachelor’s degree or possess equivalent experience (may be waived if person has extensive previous experience), proven written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to relate effectively to donors and stakeholders at all levels. In addition, s/he will be relational as well as goal-oriented, with the ability to encourage and motivate the Development team to reach the full potential of BLI resource development capacity. The experience of the Vice President to date will have provided the insight and discernment to recognize and respond effectively to the sensitive conditions and situations affecting BLI’s broad constituency.
