Campaign Description: LAANE is currently seeking a full-time experienced organizer and coalition builder to help convene a new national coalition to advocate for the growth of good manufacturing jobs in the US related to the production of clean energy railcars and buses for use in public transit systems across the country. The project will also seek to create opportunities for low income communities and disadvantaged workers to gain a foothold in the industry that manufactures clean energy buses and railcars.
Position Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the National Policy Director, the senior organizer will be responsible for leading efforts at outreach, recruitment, engagement and education of a national coalition of stakeholders that includes advocacy organizations, transportation policy experts, workforce development groups, business groups and labor unions. The national organizer will coordinate activities with coalition partners and recruit coalition members; coordinate the content and logistics for public events, create public materials for the campaign and connect organizing work with the research, and public policy, staff on the campaign.
Qualifications: A commitment to economic and environmental justice and the labor movement. Because this position will be at a senior level, at least five years experience working at a progressive nonprofit, labor or advocacy organization are required. Excellent analytical skills, as well as written, verbal and communication skills. Experience doing community organizing and outreach. Ability to interact effectively with a diverse array of people. Ability to work well under deadline pressure. Willingness to work long hours, evenings and weekends when necessary and willingness to travel as needed. Ability to work independently. Knowledge of labor issues is a plus. Driving your own car is required.

Terms of employment: Salary between $50,000 and $56,000 annually plus benefits, DOE. Full family health and dental benefits; pension; generous time off; parking. Friendly, team-oriented working environment.
