Finance Associate

Women’s Funding Network serves as a global champion for investment in women and provides over 155 member funds with ongoing access, training, tools and support to help them increase their investment, influence and impact.  We unite ideas, knowledge money and action to create lasting social change for women and girls, their families and communities.

 

Women’s Funding Network is looking for a detail-oriented and highly-motivated individual with excellent organizational and accounting skills for our Finance & Administration team.  Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Finance Associate is responsible for supporting the ongoing functions of financial and admin record-keeping.  This is a full-time 35 hour/week position.  Job duties include:

 

  1. Accounts Payable
  • Process invoices and check payments in accounting system (weekly)
  • Reconcile and process credit card statements and payments (monthly)
  • Contract and Purchase Order management (as needed)
  • Ad-hoc analysis of expense, payment, or vendor info (as needed)
  • Conduct investigations regarding invoiced goods and services (as needed)

 

  1. Accounts Receivable
  • Prepare bank deposits (weekly)
  • Maintain deposit log to ensure accurate record of income (weekly)
  • Track and report A/R, create invoices (monthly, as needed)

 

  1. General Ledger
  • Prepare bank reconciliations (monthly)
  • Prepare and implement cost allocation tables (monthly)
  • Maintain accounting schedules for fixed assets, receivables, deferred revenue (monthly)
  • Prepare and maintain GL reconciliations (monthly)
  • Enter budget information into accounting system (annually, as needed)
  • Participate in audit and tax preparation (annually)

 

  1. Month-End Activities
  • Responsible for ensuring timely closing of the Network’s monthly financial records (monthly)
  • Preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports, both internal and external (ongoing)
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual schedules including depreciation, investment gains/losses, etc. (as needed)

 

  1. Communication / Other
  • Communicate Finance and HR policies to staff and vendors (as appropriate)
  • Communicate the status of payables, contracts/purchase orders to staff and vendors (as appropriate)
  • Collect and enter member fund financial data (annually)
  • Additional projects (as required)
  • Assist with preparation and tracking of annual, program, grant and other budgets (as needed)
  • Ad hoc projects as needed
  • Document action of internal policies and procedures (ongoing)
  • Assist with personnel and HR activities (as needed)
  • Organization of internal corporate and financial files (ongoing)

 

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 3 years of finance / accounting experience is essential. 
  • Proficiency with Blackbaud Financial Edge
  • Experience with Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge preferred
  • Intermediate-Advanced Mircrosoft Excel skills (ex. experience with pivot tables, conditional formulas, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to execute tasks with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal) in a fast-paced office environment
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage complex data sets
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work well with multiple constituencies from various backgrounds (staff, vendors, board members, clients, donors, etc.)
