Directs the college financial aid office through development, implementation and maintenance of comprehensive financial aid services for students from federal, state, institutional, and private sources. Administers student Veterans Administration and financial aid programs in accordance with written policies and procedures and with federal and state laws.
Major Job-related Duties and Functions: The Director of Financial Aid administers the student financial aid and Veterans Administration programs. Governs and implements all college financial aid policies, office procedures and funding programs. Supervises financial aid and federal work-study personnel. Plans and organizes the operational function of the Financial Aid Office. Complies with rules and regulations, which govern federal financial aid and Veterans Administration programs. Counsels students and parents regarding financial aid eligibility; accepts applications for student financial aid, obtains documentation of financial needs and status of students. Prepares appropriate written documents, organizes student files and assures the satisfactory progress of students. Prepares and completes required reports and applications for federal and private funds and grants, prepares and maintains operating budget and students cost-of-attendance budgets. Disseminates financial aid information to students and staff; insures security, confidentiality and safety of financial aid records, promissory notes, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of federal, state, institutional and local sources of financial aid. Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff members. Capable of facilitating and leading an effective financial aid operation. Bachelor’s degree in any field of education with strong skills in math, and the ability to attend to detail and organize large amounts of paperwork. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically excel) is a huge plus.

Desired Qualifications: A minimum of three years in progressive responsible positions in student financial aid organization of higher education.
