About This Position
In collaboration with the Vice President of Philanthropy (VPP), and in accordance with the mission and cores service values of French Hospital & Medical Center and Dignity Health, the Development Officer (DO) will manage the major gift program of French Hospital & Medical Center Foundation (FHMCF). The DO manages a portfolio of major gift prospects and is responsible for identifying, cultivating solicting and securing major gifts from donor prospects.
The DO is skilled in balancing personal and tehncological approaches in building relationship with FHMC donors and donor prospects (e.g. mail, e mail, telephone, visits, events, mobile, etc.). Produces presentations and gift illustrations using
specific gifting instruments (e.g. case statements). Prepares contact reports and appropriate follow-up materials; records activities and notes in donor tracking information system. In consultation with professional advisors, prepares proposals
for prospects regarding appropirate gift instruments. The DO will establish good working relationships with Administration, Directors of French Hospital & Medical Center departments, physicians, volunteers and Foundation Board of Trustees.
Selection Criteria
Experience in fund development in identifying, cultivating and soliciting donor
prospects with a proven track record of securing major gifts.
Preferred: Five years or more in fund development, preferrably in a health care setting. Three years experience of proven major gift experience ranging from $10,000 to $1,000,000.
Bachelor's degree in related field. Masters degree and/or Certified Fundraising
Executive (CFRE) certification desired.
Experience in relationship management donor tracking software. Specialized training in major gifts and planned giving.
Exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation skills. A polished,
professional communication style is essential.
Skilled in Microsoft Office applications, Proficient in contemporary technology tools to support efficient communication and information tracking.
Positive, creative, critical thinker with the ability to motivate volunteers and staff to achieve identified goals.
Ability to quickly assess the philanthropic community, identify and cultivate new
sources of support for the organization.
Proficiency with philathropy related information systems such as Blackbaurd's
Raiser's Edge, eCRM and Crescendo.
