Clinical Director of Program Development

For over 90 years, Community Gatepath has been “Turning Disabilities Into Possibilities” by helping children and adults with disabilities achieve personal goals and live full and productive lives in school, the community, home, and the workplace.

Since our early beginnings, Community Gatepath has grown to become the largest non-profit serving people with disabilities in San Mateo County. Last year, we served over 8,000 individuals, family members, care providers, professionals and students, We are a service provider, business partner, network of support and a source of education for many, living near and far.

The Clinical Director of Program Development serves as an expert leader responsible for the quality assurance and integrity of the Adult and Children Services Programs; providing direction for program development, business development, and implementation of evidence based best practices in the area of special education services. This is a part-time position (20 hours a week).

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides direction in program curriculum development; interjecting evidence based best practices into existing program services and identifying potential for growth and expansion of program services
• Provides leadership and clinical direction for program services management, therapists, and special educators
• Supports business development initiatives and identifies new business relationships and engagements to pursue, in alignment with strategic direction of the Agency
• Identifies need for, develops, and implements new/revised departmental policies and procedures
• Conducts ongoing assessment of staff competency and provides recommendations for program staffing structure, roles and responsibilities, and professional development training
• Directs and participates in the development and implementation of professional educational activities for licensed and non-licensed staff, ensuring highest possible quality in the design and implementation of educational and training programs
• Functions as a positive change agent and recommends innovative programs to meet identified needs for children and adults with special needs and disabilities, in alignment with the strategic direction of the Agency
• Evaluates and measures impact on the needs of our customers, and in turn implements best practices in our program service offerings
• Represents Community Gatepath in the special education and disability communities for purpose of public relations, educational exchange and marketing

Qualifications for the Position:
• Demonstrates skill, experience, and understanding of current best practices relating to special education, serving individuals with Autism, and mental health supports and services
• Demonstrates the desire to serve individuals with special needs and developmental disabilities and families and caregivers, and sensitivity in working with diverse children and family populations in multidisciplinary settings
• Demonstrates entrepreneurial experience in leading an organization through growth and expansion
• Expert research skills in the area of clinical best practices and program development
• Demonstrated success in curriculum development and the implementation of new educational programs
• Knowledge of how to implement measurement tools to assess impact and define advancement
• Ability to work independently and as a team member
• Steady, composed and confident demeanor, with an unassuming, loyal and humble disposition
• Strong technical skills and ability to use technology platforms and systems in managing information
• Demonstrate a passion for the mission, by believing in the abilities of people with disabilities
• Take initiative to impart specialized knowledge and skills to colleagues
• Work effectively on teams, including virtually and cross-departmentally
• Advocate and develop awareness of the organization to the community and the marketplace
• Demonstrate professional growth by taking the initiative to manage your own career development

Education and Work Experience:
• Master’s Degree/PhD in Special Education, Clinical Psychology, or health services related field. Doctorate preferred
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in special education and/or mental health service field
• Minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in program development and/or management
