The Graphic Designer is responsible for graphic design for both print and electronic projects. Projects include developing identities for programs and ministries, thematic design, environmental signage, postcards, flyers, posters, newsletters, stationery, booklets, website layouts, promotional collateral, and other communication pieces. This person is a strong team player, a self-starter, and a problem solver who can interact with the church staff. This person must thrive on high-pressure challenges and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment. The position is full time; Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:30PM. Occasional flexibility of work hours is possible upon request.
Conceptualizing, developing, and executing the visual appearance of assigned projects, including selecting fonts and developing color palettes.
Delivering high-quality design, artwork, and layouts within guidelines, budgets, and timelines.
Proficiency with software applications associated with graphic design such as Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
Hands-on production of printed pieces with in-house production equipment.
Properly setting up and transmitting files to vendors for offsite production.
Being primarily responsible for the design, layout, editing, and production of the monthly newsletter.
Requirements for consideration include:
Minimum 2 years experience in graphic design
BA or BFA in Art or Graphic Design
Knowledge of graphic art production from a standpoint of visual communication and technical production.
Formal design and production training, digital editing, color correction, illustration, graphic design and print communications.
Competency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Illustrator, PhotoShop, InDesign and Apple iWork.
Strong organization and time management skills and attention to detail.
A design portfolio that demonstrates quality design ability.
