Since 1977, WomenShelter of Long Beach has helped thousands of families overcome the trauma caused by domestic abuse. WSLB assists victims and their children by providing safe shelter and supportive services including 30-45 days of emergency shelter, 24-hour crisis hotline, counseling, social services support, legal and health advocacy, and much more.

Mission
The mission of WSLB is to eliminate domestic violence through compassionate intervention, education and personal empowerment.

Position - Executive Director

Managing the day-to-day operation and performance of the agency.
Providing administrative and program delivery leadership to all staff and volunteers.
Serving as the primary representative of the agency in the community.
Working in close partnership with the Board to provide vision and strategic planning to address the challenges and opportunities facing the agency.
Staying abreast of all levels of state policy mandates and initiatives that affect agency programs and operations.
Overseeing the fiscal and human resources management of the agency.
Ensuring agency compliance with all regulatory oversight bodies.

Candidates will bring the following credentials:

Bachelor degree in social services, non-profit management, or other related field. Masters preferred
Extensive (at least five years) management and supervisory experience.
Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
Proven success in grant writing and management.
Proven success in developing effective private/state partnerships.
Knowledge and experience in working with domestic violence victims and their families preferred
Ability to interpret budgets, to deploy funds with fiscal discipline and to account to the funders on the usage of funds by the organization
Ability to be an advocate for staff’s welfare and its ability to function well
Ability to work with an ethnically and culturally diverse community of employees and clients
Conflict resolution skills
