FACULTY POSITION AT ALL LEVELS
EDITH SANFORD BREAST CANCER AND CENTER FOR HEALTH OUTCOMES & PREVENTION RESEARCH
The Edith Sanford Breast Cancer & Center for Health Outcomes and Prevention Research (CHOPR; Sioux Falls) invites applications from researchers for a full time faculty position at the rank of Associate Scientist, Scientist, and Senior Scientist with commensurate rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Full Professor within Sanford Research/USD (http://www.sanfordresearch.org/) and of the Sanford School of Medicine at The University of South Dakota. This position will be housed amongst groups with a strong base of internal and external funding. In 2006, a historic $400 million gift by philanthropist Denny Sanford has allowed for expansion of Sanford Research/USD and dynamic development of programs. Edith Sanford Breast Cancer is pursuing cutting-edge translational genomic research to identify specific treatments that will work best for each person, prevent the disease on an individual basis and ultimately eradicate breast cancer. CHOPR was recently awarded $13.5 million from the National Institutes of Minority Health and Disparities to form the Collaborative Research Center for American Indian Health. This collaborative center includes Tribal communities and health researchers, from multiple disciplines, to work together in the development of cutting-edge transdisciplinary research that will address the significant health disparities experience by American Indians in South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota.
We seek outstanding scientists with research programs that contribute to the understanding and prevention of breast cancer health disparities. We seek scientists that embrace a team approach to science and will work closely with communities, clinics and hospitals. Successful candidates will have PhD, MD or MD/PhD degree in epidemiology, genomics, public health, social/behavioral science or medicine and will join the energetic and collegial research community at Sanford Research/USD. A successful candidate will demonstrate a capacity to sustain an independent research program and to present evidence of a program of active research (through scholarly publications, grant applications and funding awards as an independent investigator) in the area of primary or secondary prevention relevant to the health of populations, communities, social networks, families and/or individuals. Candidates will be expected to complement the interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of the growing Edith Sanford Breast Cancer and CHOPR and promote translational research across the Sanford System.
Significant institutional support including personnel will be provided. In addition, a comprehensive compensation package will be tailored to the individual's qualifications. Sanford Health is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. Candidates should submit a detailed curriculum vitae, description of research experience and future plans, and at least three letters of recommendation. Application materials should be sent to:
