Part-Time Respite Dorm Parent/Educator

The Oliverian School has an immediate opening for a part-time respite dorm parent. Oliverian is a small school that provides an inspiring, supportive, and challenging educational alternative for students in grades 9-12 who have generally been unhappy and/or unsuccessful in traditional educational settings. Working with our students is both rewarding and challenging, and requires a genuine commitment to working with struggling teens.

Oliverian is set on a working farm in rural New Hampshire and provides a unique and alternative school environment that combines a substantial foundation of student support with an academic program that balances a traditional college prep program with an alternative approach that includes opportunities in stewardship, adventure, and the arts.

Dorm Parents sleep in the dorm when carrying out their dorm responsibilities which include intensive residential dorm parenting duties. This part-time position would not included housing and would involve some one or two afternoons/nights during the week and some weekends (from Friday afternoon through Sunday night). Dorm parenting responsibilities, combined with advising and guiding students with a focus on social and life skills are the foundation of a dorm parent's work with students. Responsibilities include sleeping in and supervising dorms and planning and participating in various on and off-campus extracurricular activities as needed. Successful candidates must be excited about developing vital connections with our high school students in order to fully engage them their own development and education.
