
SUMMARY:
Over its 39 year history, the Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) (www.medasf.org) has advanced innovative approaches to promote economic justice through asset development for the Latino community in San Francisco. Its programs foster asset creation through group education and one on one counseling in financial capability, small business development, homeownership, income tax preparation and community planning.
This position at MEDA Plaza Adelante will manage a client workloand focused on benefit screening and the application process for those benefits, facilitate the Spanish financial education workshops and provide financial education coaching in addition to being a key contact person for the San Francisco Sparkpoint Center.
Responsibilities:
1) Benefit Screening and Application process:
•Develop the benefit screening protocol that includes a narrative of the process and a client flow chart
•Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to help with the benefit program.
•Create a google calendar and share the information with the tax site coordinators, point person from partner organizations to schedule appointment with clients
•Collect and keep files with documents from the clients who applied for benefits
•Participate in training and webinars to learn about best practices
•Follow up with clients and verify online if client access to benefits (CalWin)
•Report weekly to the supervisor to verify that pre-screening from the tax program is working.
2) Financial Education (workshop and one-on-one coaching sessions)
•Facilitate 14 financial education workshop in Spanish
•Prepare the materials for the clients
•Support outreach effort to have a minimum of 15 clients for workshop
•Make appointments for financial coaching for 120 clients
•Collect the intake forms and evaluation forms
•Schedule financial coaching sessions with the clients as needed
•Use the protocol, guides and forms for the coaching sessions
•Suggest updates and changes to the curriculum
•Invite staff from partner organization to attend the workshop
3) Manage data and reporting
•Input data in Vistashare and ETO (baseline information and follow ups)
•Manage client files
•Secure client information and confidentiality
Qualifications:
•Previous experiences as a financial coach or housing counselor
•Strong written and verbal communication skills
•Strong initiative and project follow through
•Cultural competence in working with diverse populations, including communities of color, immigrants, LGBT communities, and persons of various ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, health status, and abilities
•Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
•Commitment to social justice and asset building for low income population
•Bilingual English/Spanish required
•Detail oriented, reliable and organized person
