The Accountant will provide assistance in the day to day operation of the business office including but not limited to prepare and post all deposits daily, reconcile credit card receipts, interface with Development Department regarding donations and payments on grants, Perform monthly reconciliations receivable accounts, produce bi-monthly payroll and agency benefit plan.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The Accountant will provide support to the business office and other areas within the finance department. Attend meetings as appropriate to job tasks or as directed by the Controller. Work as a member of the agency team by promoting the mission and philosophy of the agency. Provide excellent customer service to all staff, clients and contacts of the agency. All other duties as assigned by Controller or the Executive Director.
Cash Receipts
• Process checks, cash and credit card payments on grants, government contracts and reimbursements posting to MIP
• Reconcile and process PG&E payments from customers; prepare deposit
Donations
• Create Deposit for all donations and contributions via cash or check
• Create Receivable in MIP for credit card donations
• Post deposit in MIP (dr. Cash, Cr. Appropriate Revenue Source)
• Monthly reconciliation between MIP and Development
Payroll
• Prepare payroll for transfer to outside payroll vendor
• Process the payroll allocation to programs and projects
• Prepare the monthly reconciliation of P/R accounts
Benefits
• Enroll/terminate employees in benefit programs
• Monitor COBRA notifications and payments
• Coordinate Workers Comp claims
• Coordinate annual open enrollment process
• Coordinate recruitment, hiring and separation processes
• Coordinate new employee orientation process
• Coordinate the calendar of employee reviews
• Maintain supply of hiring packets, separation packets and other employee paperwork
Month End:
• Reconcile Accounts Receivable
• Reconcile Accounts Receivable Aging to General Ledger
REQUIREMENTS
• A minimum of 1-3 years experience
• Accounting degree or equivalent required
• Experience with MIP accounting software a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Detail oriented with excellent strong verbal communication skills
• Self-starter
• Demonstrate strong organization skills
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as a team player
• Demonstrate the ability to work in a diverse environment
This is a full time non-exempt position. Salary range $35,000k to $48,000k annually DOE
