The Los Angeles County branch of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) seeks a full-time, energetic, dedicated manager for an annual, countywide Walk. Revenues are for the funding of support, education, outreach, and advocacy for individuals and families impacted by serious mental illness.
The manager is employed by the Los Angeles County Coordinating Council of NAMI and based at the agency headquarters in the LA mid-Wilshire district. Coordination with and empowerment of 12 NAMI affiliate organizations, located in various parts of the county, is a major dimension of the work. Also, crucial to success is attaining of paid sponsorships from the larger community, especially the business sector.
The skill set essential to effectiveness includes excellence in planning, recruitment, training, team building, public speaking, writing, cultural competency in our diverse region, plus computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), internet, and social media. A collaborative leadership style is especially important.
Qualifications: at least two years of college and five years of experience working with volunteers and community leaders in the realm of event planning and/or fund development.
Salary is negotiable with an annualized range of $45,000 to $55,000, plus benefits. This organization and its annual Walk have experienced steady growth and have much additional growth potential. Compensation has excellent growth potential as well.
