In 2011 FamilyPoint Resources established the Nottingham Park Community Library to serve a void left in our underserved community when the local branch of the Houston Public Library moved to a new location, out of reach of most of the families that live here.  Since that time, the NPCL has grown into a hub for students and families in our community.  A place that fills with students every afternoon, looking to be loved and to belong.  The Library Director will be responsible for coordinating and managing the library.  Central to that task will be utilizing the library as a resource for building relationships with children and their parents, and furthering the library as an attractive tool for fostering a love a reading and learning in students.


Key Responsibilities:
-Create a caring, welcoming, and engaging environment for students and families in our community
-Building relationships with area students and their families
-Maintain the library’s book and resource distribution systems
-Help to create programing that utilizes the library’s resources, helps to empower students to engage with and enjoy literature, and addresses needs of the community as a whole.
-Help to develop the library to reach all age groups in the community and to operate as a community hub
-Coordinate with other staff, area schools and organizations to create learning opportunities through the library. -Manage and lead library volunteers
-Other duties as needed that help serve FamilyPoint’s mission in the Nottingham Park Area.

Qualifications:
-Bachelors Degree (or currently working toward a Bachelors Degree) from an accredited college or university
-Experience teaching or in other education based settings
-Broad knowledge of literature
-Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
-Ability and desire to connect with, care for, and empower students of all ages
-Knowledge of Mac computer and technology resources
-Desire to serve at risk and underserved children and families
-Teachable, organized, and responsible
-Relational: Friendly, approachable and very welcoming/hospitable
-Forward Moving: Willing to present ideas and move things forward as you attempt to identify and fill gaps as seen a needed.

Employment Details:
-The Library Director Position is part time (20-25 hours per week) with potential to move to full time as the position develops.
-The NPCL’s current hours of operation are Monday-Friday 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM.
-Compensation will be discussed with individual candidates
