Position Description

The Creative Coast, a non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing Savannah’s creative and innovative businesses and start ups, is looking for a new Executive Director. The Executive Director leads the organization by managing existing programs, developing new programs, serving as liaison with The Creative Coast’s civic, community and governmental partners and being the face of the organization. The successful candidate must demonstrate a passion for entrepreneurs, community, technology and new media.

Responsibilities Include:

The continued development of Savannah’s startup and entrepreneurial community and working with individuals and partners to grow the entrepreneurial base.
Consult with entrepreneurs and innovators, and connect them with key resources and individuals.
Maintain and improve The Creative Coast’s existing programs: TEDx Creative Coast; Fast Pitch Competition; Start-up Lounge; and Free Advice Friday. And develop new programs consistent with the organization’s mission.
Lead the organization by managing all aspects of daily operation.
Serve as the primary liaison with constituents, existing and potential funders, the governing board, sponsors, local entrepreneurs, investors, service providers, government officials, and regional agencies.
Manage staff (1 full-time individual, and 4 part-time, and numerous interns and volunteers).
Work with Board members to establish and achieve long-range mission, goals, and strategy.
Provide corporate leadership, including organizational policies, and financial plans.
Maintain official records and documents, to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local law and regulations.
Stay abreast of significant developments and trends in the field and community.
Articulate and promote the organization’s mission and work to the press, public, and funders through developing and implementing a media strategy.
Recruitment, employment, development, and termination of all personnel.
Maintain GAP financial practices and prepare the budget with the Board.
Develop new funding sources.
Candidate Characteristics:

An energetic individual with entrepreneurial management experience, either in nonprofit or private sector organization.
Experience working with Boards, committees, civic and governmental organizations and volunteers.
Strong record of interpersonal, mentoring and managerial skills, working with both internal and external partners.
Skilled public speaker and able to deliver engaging presentations to a range of audiences.
Experience in developing and overseeing the implementation of new program initiatives.
Comfortable with deadlines and accountability.
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills a must; strong graphic design eye.
Event planning and marketing skills.
Experience with website oversight and development (content and information management).
Passion for start-ups and innovation.
