Chief Financial Officer

The newly-created Chief Financial Officer position at the Cambridge Housing Authority (CHA) presents a rare opportunity to contribute to the day-to-day and long-term viability of one of the country’s most highly-regarded housing agencies. As the owner/operator of more than 2,600 apartments and administrator of over 2,700 state or federal housing vouchers in one of the most expensive housing markets in the country, the CHA is critical to maintaining the vibrant and diverse Cambridge community.

The CFO reports to the Executive Director and will organize, direct and monitor all of the agency’s financial activities and Finance department staff of 13 FTEs, including activities of the CHA’s subsidiaries and affiliates. The ideal candidate will be strategic in thinking and planning to help guide the organization. The ideal candidate will be equally adept in building, managing and motivating a staff focused on getting right the details which allow the organization to function smoothly and satisfy multiple financial and regulatory stakeholders.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field; and a minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, investments, etc. with significant supervisory experience. MBA or CPA License preferred. Candidate must have excellent leadership and team building skills for a diverse work environment.

Compensation: Salary: $110,000 to $135,000 depending on experience. The CHA offers an excellent compensation package including health (CHA pays 75% of premium), dental (CHA pays 65% of premium) and retirement (City of Cambridge with participation in State of Massachusetts retirement system.)
