Membership Coordinator

The Bascom, a center for the visual arts located in Highlands, NC seeks a Membership Coordinator. Position is responsible for the creative acquisition of new members, building loyalty and retention of current member households and fulfillment of all memberships, in addition to several other essential functions. These include generating all renewal and new member acquisition letters and e-correspondence, processing all membership contributions and acknowledgements, maintaining the member database and organizing all member events and activities.

Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree and 2-3 years equivalent experience within the field of membership, development/fundraising, customer service, or sales. Familiarity with marketing principals is a plus. Knowledge of fundraising software (preferably Donor Perfect), Microsoft and internet applications is required. The individual must have the ability to work holidays, evenings and weekends. This position requires someone who is energetic, well organized, attentive to details, has an ability to juggle numerous activities simultaneously, and is experienced working with a vast range of people and personality types. Excellent oral and written communications, interpersonal and guest services skills is a must.

Since moving to our new home in 2009, we have attracted nearly 100,000 visitors. Thousands more have been involved with The Bascom’s off-site programs in schools and other partner organizations. We now have over 1,000 member households.
