PURPOSE: The Grants & Contracts Specialist researches information and prospects for potential funders, writes proposals to secure grant and contract funding and reporting for current and future Jewish Family & Career Services programs and services. The Grant Writer utilizes skills and expertise to assist JF&CS staff with program planning, development and outcome measuring in coordination with the Director and/or Program Manager to assure compliance with funding and the future success of programs.
•Grant and Contract proposals and renewals for agency programs. This includes collecting current research on each grant proposal’s subject; coordinating programmatic, administrative and budget preparation with appropriate staff members; completing necessary forms and attachments; preparing the budget and grant submissions
•Writing, editing and research for reports and amendments
•Writing, editing and research for contracts/renewals & grants
•Grant and Contract Administration including coordinating execution of contracts; maintaining computerized and paper files of all funding; communicating grant awards to the appropriate staff.
•Grant Compliance including communication of funding requirements to appropriate staff; ensuring the timely submission of required statistical and narrative reports; assisting with program reporting when necessary and outcome tracking for compliance with funding requirements during the life of the grant.
•Administrative duties including updating grants calendar as needed, organizing & maintaining files, filing, writing cover and thank you letters, statistical reporting for the Grants Department.
•In-depth communication and information gathering with staff concerning programs and services
•Oral and written communication with funders to include attending meetings, conferences and contract negotiations as assigned.
•Assist other staff members in the Grants Department administratively, writing proposals, reviewing and conducting research.
•Assist other JF&CS administrative departments with requests for information.
•Other duties may be assigned.
•Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare grant proposals, budgets and outcomes for a wide variety of programs.
•Ability to work on a number of different projects simultaneously (multi-tasking)
•Ability to assist staff with program-related design, development and strengthening.

•High level of competency in MS Office products including Outlook, Access, Word and Excel.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
•Minimum of B.A. degree or equivalent experience of at least 5 years in an area related to human services.
•Successful grant writing experience for government, foundational, corporate and individual funding
•Experience in preparing proposal packages and budgets, developing outcome measures and grant compliance for human services agencies.
•Knowledge of program development and strengthening.
•High level of competency in MS Office programs including Outlook, Access, Word and Excel.
