Opportunity
The Unity Council seeks a highly organized, detail-oriented individual experienced in organizing, analyzing, and reporting from Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and payroll data. This position is responsible for creating reports, reviewing data in databases for consistency and accuracy, formatting customized data requests and outputs, and interfacing with other Human Resources and Accounting professionals The incumbent will be located in the headquarters building in the Fruitvale District in Oakland and will collaborate with both the Human Resources and Accounting teams.

Position Summary
The HRIS Analyst is a new position in the HR department at the Unity Council. As the Unity Council’s workforce has expanded to 300 employees in two companies, including unionized employees, our ability to maintain, manage, and ensure quality of employee data has become more critical. The HRIS Analyst will manage the data set in our HRIS database to ensure the accuracy of all employee data, create ad hoc, customized, and cyclical reports, and to help prepare periodic transactional changes that affect groups of employees (e.g. COLA adjustments). This is a highly detailed responsibility set, and the successful HRIS Analyst will have a strong systems mindset and exceptional math, spreadsheet, and database skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in complex working environments with hundreds of employees. Experience with ADP HRIS is preferred, as is experience working in a similar position at a large, nonprofit. The selected candidate will also possess strong communication skills and have experience in preparing from scratch customized spreadsheets that can be presented and easily interpreted in hard copy to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

•Maintain ADP HRIS database files, tables, and individual employee records to ensure accuracy of all data.
•Prepare regular and customized reports in Excel for various purposes:
403(b) Retirement Plan census reports.
Benefits reporting, including employee tracking for the Affordable Health Care Act.
COLA Adjustments.
Vacation and PTO.
Demographic reporting to funders.
Salary surveys.
Ad hoc reporting.
•Work with Unity Council management and ADP to make changes to the Unity Council’s HRIS system as necessary.
•Regularly audit Unity Council employee records to ensure data accuracy.
•Research and resolve discrepancies in employee records, in coordination with the Human Resources Manager.
•Develop and maintain data archival and retrieval process to ensure data accessibility.
•Interface with auditors during periodic payroll audits (workers compensation, EDD, funders, etc.).
•Review semi-monthly payroll registers for accuracy and consistency.
•Other analytical support and reporting as requested.

Qualifications

•Minimum AA degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or similar technical discipline. BA degree preferred.
•Minimum three years experience working with human resources data consistent with the job requirements.
•Minimum three years experience with ADP systems, including ADP Custom Reporting and HRIS Workforce Now.
•Strong experience with Excel and Access (or other SQL-based reational databases).
•Experience with customizing reports through report writers (e.g. Crystal, Reportsmith, Report Writer) preferred.
•Database programming experience preferred.
•Must be project-oriented and a self-starter driven to complete each task perfectly and on schedule.
•Exceptional attention to detail and knowledge/understanding of basic statistics and statistical techniques.
•Good communication skills, particularly in the written presentation of organized data sets.
•The ability to learn new technical products quickly and assimilate them into an existing process/system.
