Cal Performances is seeking an Information Systems Manager.

Under the auspices of Cal Performances, Student Musical Activities (SMA) has been an integral part of the organization since 1987. For over one hundred years, the various units that comprise SMA (The Cal Marching Band, The UC Jazz Ensembles, and the UC Choral Ensembles) have served the University through the many contributions of its student members.
The Information Systems Manager is the head of the Information Systems unit and manages all computing, telecommunications, and networking for the division. The Information Systems Manager provides planning, budgeting, management, user support, data integrity, and security for staff and student computer workstations, the ticketing/fundraising/marketing (CRM) system, box office telephone system, telephones for staff and students, and public Internet servers.
Responsibilities
Project Management & Supervision: *Manage the coordination of activities for the department with responsibility for the results of projects. Manage work with programming staff and volunteer programmers on design requirements, schedules, and etc. for divisional custom applications. Supervise the Applications Programmer, Systems Administrator, Support Supervisor, Weekend Systems Analyst and student staff.
Strategic Planning and Technical Architect: *Provide an IT vision and implementation roadmap for Cal Performances & Student Musical Activities through industry research, requirements gathering, technical design, and high-level implementation of the organization's technical architecture and systems. Responsible for formulating and ensuring compliance with data security, backup, disaster recovery, privacy, and other plans and policies for systems and e-commerce sites in the division.
Help Desk / Support: *Resolve trouble tickets escalated due to complexity or priority. Provide support for the CRM application operations for the most complex issues or upgrades or general support on some nights and weekends.
Budgeting, Purchasing, Resource Allocation: *Prepare annual Systems budget, prepare quarterly financial forecasts. Responsible for software licensing and hardware purchases. Act as the primary point of contact with significant software vendors (e.g. Tessitura Network). Consult with unit managers on technology issues and projects, resolve conflicting demands on resources by users.
Unit Representation: *Represent the division on campus, in corsortia, and within the fine arts / fund raising / ticketing communities. Serve on committees, attend conferences, and etc.
Professional Development: *Engage in professional development to maintain a strong knowledge of field.

Required qualifications
• Extensive knowledge of project management procedures and superior knowledge of and experience with large system development and information management.
• Demonstrated competence in establishing project schedules, timelines, and budget estimates, and in meeting those schedules and estimates.
• Aptitude in coordinating and leading activities of the unit through the effort of subordinate supervisors and staff and own knowledge and skills.
• Ability to deal effectively with users, management, system and application programmers, and vendors and successfully manage technical migration and implementation projects to conclusion.
• Extensive knowledge of and experience with e-commerce. Aptitude with the business processes of an organization that utilizes technology for ticket sales, purchasing and financial reporting, personnel processing and payroll, credit card processing and e-commerce, donation solicitation and processing, music transcription, scheduling and facility maintenance.
• Knowledge of the professional fields of systems administration, application development, database design and maintenance, and end-user support. While not the principle systems administrator, extensive systems administration skills across various platforms (Windows, Linux, Netware, etc.) are required. Responsible for overseeing the following technologies/languages: SQL, PHP, HTML, C# and ASP.NET.
• Excellent skills in business organization and operation, and must be able to plan appropriately to address the computing and technology needs of the organization while providing a long term technical strategy.
• Excellent verbal and written communications abilities. Strong political acumen, analytical thinking, planning, project management, supervision, team building, and problem solving abilities.
• Familiarity with campus policy, University policy, law, and external policy (e.g. Visa).
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check.

• Interest and passion for the performing arts preferred.
